Spartanburg Co. woman arrested for insurance fraud
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) — A 47-year-old woman was arrested Tuesday after being accused of using another person’s identity to obtain insurance and then filing a fraudulent claim for vehicle damage.
Miranda Jeanette Fuller faces charges of financial identity fraud and presenting a false claim for insurance payment for an amount between $2,000 and $10,000.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) investigated at the request of the South Carolina Department of Insurance. The charges stem from a series of incidents involving Progressive Insurance that allegedly occurred in July 2025.
Investigators allege Fuller devised a scheme to defraud Progressive on July 12, 2025. She reportedly obtained an automobile insurance policy through pretenses by using another person’s personal identifying information. This information included the individual’s name, date of birth and digital signature, which were used without authorization.
